C SECTIONS IMPACT BUB'S
IMMUNE SYSTEM

Studies have shown that C section babies are more likely to experience respiratory infections and require antibiotics in their 1st year of life, compared to vaginally born babies.

We don’t share this research to scare you about C-sections… and we’re definitely not trying to convince you one way or another…

We share them because we believe that this type of information needs to be discussed in the lead up to your birth, so that, if you do get to make a choice about the mode of birth for your baby, you will be as well-informed as possible.

The fact is, C-section babies have been shown to have significantly different microbiomes in their early months of life. This can lead to more frequent infection and higher antibiotic use, which can then have further repercussions for their microbiome…It can become a bit of a feedback loop…

If you need a C-section (and many people do) and you are concerned about this impact on your bub’s microbiome, sign up to our online course (it’s currently free!) to learn how to make some changes that may help to even out the impact of the C-section on their microbiome…
